Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, non-flammable gas and widely known for the applications in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), gas-insulated transmission lines (GITL), electrostatic accelerators, X-ray equipment and pulse power apparatus. With the prosperities of good dielectric and heat transfer and the ability to regenerate after arc interruption, SF6 have been applied for both arc interruption and insulation of circuit breakers.

Although SF6 is highly stable molecule at normal operating temperatures, a portion of SF6 molecules would be decomposed to complicated gas and solid byproducts by reacting with little water, electrode and solid insulated material under electrical stress conditions caused by arc, spark, and partial discharge.

The decomposition products and the mechanism of SF6 have been extensively studied, the gas byproducts include SOF2, SO2F2, SOF4, S2F10, SO2, HF, and solid byproducts include aluminum fluoride, tungsten fluoride, and so on. The SF6 is commonly used as an insulating gas in different applications; however the SF6 can be easily exploded into different decomposition gas products when subjected to electrical discharge, such as electric arc, spark or corona, the resulting decomposition gas products are more toxic, corrosive and harmful to human beings and the environment.

SF6 has good chemical stability and insulating performance. It was widely used as insulating medium in high voltage switch. But during the manufacture process of SF6, there is little toxin low fluoride, such as SO2F2,SOF2 and S2F10O, which is virulent, corrosive and harmful to both the equipment and the handling workers. Sorbent F03-1 and F03-2 can adsorb the little low fluoride, acidic matters and moisture in SF6.

Heng San has developed F03-1 and the improved product F03-2 to be the adsorbent for high-voltage electrical appliances. It has high efficiency to adsorb harmful gas to protect the environment and human body. After improving the product, we increased the adsorption capacity and avoid powder falling problem.
